親愛的Teenager寫作者們,
我想要和你介紹三明治和故事星球Storyland合作的一個全新工作坊類別 ——面向全球的青少年英文創(chuàng)意寫作 (Global Young Adult Creative Writing)。創(chuàng)意寫作是一個全球性的概念,它指的是創(chuàng)造性寫作,不是學術(shù)寫作,也不是廣告、文案等應(yīng)用型寫作。它包含了小說、非虛構(gòu)、劇本、詩歌等基礎(chǔ)的文學創(chuàng)作類型,并不斷和影視、游戲、動漫、舞臺等其他藝術(shù)表現(xiàn)形式碰撞出新的合作。
好的創(chuàng)意寫作都是從發(fā)掘自己的內(nèi)心開始的。只有擁有敏銳的感受力,敢于直面自己內(nèi)心的小情緒,同時愿意通過寫作把它們變成可以和外部世界情感流動的藝術(shù)形式。最近我看到一個孩子,在申請美國大學的文書中,用創(chuàng)意寫作的方式描述了他對爺爺?shù)乃寄睿騽恿苏猩伲晒Ρ讳浫 ?strong>我們不是看其功利的效果,而是看到,通過創(chuàng)意寫作方式寫出的文字,最能跨越地域國界,引起人類廣泛的共鳴。
自1936年美國愛荷華大學創(chuàng)立Iowa Writers' Workshop (作家工作坊)以來,創(chuàng)意寫作已經(jīng)成為全球大批作家成長的教育體系。英國第一個創(chuàng)意寫作學位在東安格利亞大學(UEA)于1970年創(chuàng)辦,培養(yǎng)出像石黑一雄這樣的諾貝爾文學獎得主。去年,我在UEA學習英文非虛構(gòu)創(chuàng)意寫作(Creative Nonfiction Writing)。在學習期間,我被workshop中同學老師的相互點評、指導所感染,想將這一英語寫作教育體系引入到中國。之前兩個月,我已經(jīng)邀請我的UEA同學在我所創(chuàng)辦的寫作平臺"三明治"開出了成人的創(chuàng)意寫作工作坊,效果良好。
這一次,我們將和故事星球Storyland一起,為12-16歲的青少年開設(shè)這一在線英文創(chuàng)意寫作課程。今天中國12-16歲的青少年,更早地成長在國際化的環(huán)境下,接觸英文的經(jīng)驗更為直接,通過英文的直接創(chuàng)作,能夠激發(fā)出不同的文化情感和創(chuàng)作靈感。也更能直接創(chuàng)作出和國際相互對話的作品。
這次的課程導師Julia, 來自美國得克薩斯州。2019年,她獲得了得州創(chuàng)意寫作學會頒發(fā)的最佳本科生寫作獎,后來她到劍橋大學學習了一個創(chuàng)意寫作文憑,又繼續(xù)到UEA完成創(chuàng)意非虛構(gòu)寫作的碩士。她同時在英國諾里奇為當?shù)匾凰咧袚渭媛毨蠋煟碛薪淌趪H學生英文的TEFL證書。目前她正基于她的宗教成長背景在寫一部非虛構(gòu)長篇。

Julia Hollingsworth
Julia holds a Masters in Creative Writing: Nonfiction from the University of East Anglia and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Abilene Christian University. Additionally, she completed a Certificate and a Diploma course in Creative Writing from the Institute of Ongoing Education at Cambridge University. In 2019, she received an award from the Texas Association of Creative Writing for best undergraduate essay.
Julia has been working in the education sector since 2019. She has worked as an English teacher for primary students where she taught reading, writing, and grammar, and as a reading and writing tutor for secondary students. In 2024, she completed a course in Teaching English as a Foreign Language to better assist international students and to expand her teaching capacities.
Julia is currently working on a memoir about untangling her identity from the fundamentalist, evangelical Christian community she was raised in. Her work largely focuses on family ties and the conflicts within close relationships. She enjoys character driven narratives that utilize dialogue and scene setting as tools to pull the plot forward. She is especially drawn to any writing that blends fiction and nonfiction. Some of her favorites include In The Dream House by Carmen Maria Machado, Kick the Latch by Kathryn Scanlan and the Bluest Eye by Toni Morrison.

除了每天當堂的小練習之外,每個孩子在五天的工作坊結(jié)束之后,還將完成一篇500-1000單詞的個人寫作。Julia導師會以書面回復(fù)的方式詳細點評,幫助孩子打造自己的第一篇創(chuàng)意寫作作品!
未來,我們期待將孩子們的作品帶到全球舞臺,參加國際眾多的創(chuàng)意寫作征文或者比賽,或者投稿到國際刊物發(fā)表!我們在2025年春季開始也將開設(shè)常規(guī)學期的全球化創(chuàng)意寫作工作坊。無論身在何處的年輕寫作者們,都可以參加!

Writing The Personal Essay
February 10 - 14 2025
Objectives of the Course:
By the end of the week students will have learned the basic tools of creative writing to write their own personal essay.
Day1-The Personal Essay + writing through what we see and feel
Day2-Writing about interactions between people
Day3-What is Fiction/Nonfiction + writing dialogue
Day4-Writing about our environments, focusing on sound
Day5-Exploring your Personal Essay (theme/topic)
Plus:Final work review
Monday / February 10th /
Day1Introduction to The Personal Essay
What does the word ‘personal’ mean?
How can we show someone what we are seeing?
How can we describe the things we feel, both by touching, and with our emotions?
Tuesday / February 11th /
Day2Objective - Students will have a better grasp on writing about food, and their interactions with others.
Questions to be posed by the tutor:
How can we show someone what we taste?
How can we describe what we smell?
How can we explore (and write about) our relationships with our friends and family through food?
Wednesday / February 12th /
Day3Objective-Students should have a better grasp on the difference between fiction and nonfiction.
Questions to be posed by the tutor:
What is the difference between fiction and nonfiction?
What is dialogue?
How can we write creatively without making things up?
Thursday / February 13th /
Day4Objective - Students will learn how to incorporate sound into their personal essays.
Questions to be posed by the tutor:
How can we make reading more exciting with sound?
What is ONOMATOPOEIA?
Friday / February 14th / WRITING THE PERSONAL ESSAY
Day5Objective-Students review the skills they have learned throughout the week to incorporate it into their writing.
The tutor will pose the idea that the personal essay does not always have to be about the writer.
Students will finalize their topics for their final essays and begin writing.
