Ancient people from Liangzhu by the Yangtze River carved water patterns on pottery, recording their fear of floods and their longing to tame water. The fish-mouth levee of the Dujiangyan irrigation system splits the Min River into two clear streams, turning the character "水" from a mere symbol into a testament of water management wisdom. The 1,794-kilometer Grand Canal, sliced by paddles, transformed water into a channel of commerce and poetry. Today, the South-to-North Water Diversion Project still follows this philosophy — the Chinese have always turned nature's challenges into gifts of civilization through the lens of water.
