The recall affects 1kg bags of Haribo Happy Cola F!ZZ sweets with a best-before date of January 2026.

The Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) confirmed that samples taken from the affected packs tested positive for cannabis, following reports of people feeling unwell after consumption. Symptoms included dizziness, according to officials.

Police in the Netherlands are investigating how the cannabis ended up in the sweets. It is currently unclear whether the contaminated products are genuine Haribo bags or counterfeit items.

A Haribo spokesperson said the company is working closely with the authorities to understand the source of the contamination, adding that consumer safety is its highest priority.

The recall applies only to the Netherlands, and Haribo has assured customers that all other products remain safe to consume.

According to a report by Qianjiang Evening News, customer service representatives from the Haribo flagship store on Taobao have relayed a notice from Haribo (Shanghai) Trading Co, Ltd addressing partners regarding the recent incident in the Netherlands.

哈瑞寶（上海）貿易有限公司表示，所有官方進口至中國的產品均獨家生產于土耳其的工廠。荷蘭事件所涉及的產品產自不同工廠，且從未官方進口至中國市場。因此，中國產品所使用的所有原料均未受影響。

The company clarified that the incident is confined to the Netherlands and involves a specific batch of sour candy products. All Haribo products officially imported into the Chinese market are exclusively produced at the company's factory in Turkiye.

The products implicated in the Dutch incident originated from a different factory and were never officially imported into China. Therefore, Haribo (Shanghai) emphasized that all ingredients used in products available within China remain unaffected by this event.
