5月23日，全國精神文明建設表彰大會在京召開。
中央宣傳思想文化工作領導小組決定，授予202個城市（區(qū)）全國文明城市（區(qū)）稱號，授予3316個村鎮(zhèn)全國文明村鎮(zhèn)稱號，授予4688個單位全國文明單位稱號，授予798戶家庭全國文明家庭稱號，授予890所學校全國文明校園稱號；授予60名（組）同志第九屆全國道德模范榮譽稱號，授予239名（組）同志第九屆全國道德模范提名獎。
