Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a 40-year-old British national, is the only survivor of the Air India plane crash. He spoke with Indian national broadcaster DD News on Friday morning from the Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, where he is undergoing treatment. He was seated in row 11A, next to a left-side window in the economy section of the ill-fated aircraft – near an emergency exit – when the crash occurred.

“飛機起飛30秒后，就聽到一聲巨響，然后飛機墜毀了。一切都發生得太快了?！崩肥步邮堋队《人固箷r報》采訪時表示，“我站起來時，周圍都是尸體。我嚇壞了。我站起來就跑。我周圍都是飛機碎片。有人抓住我，把我抬上救護車，送去了醫院?！?/p>

"Everything was over in 30 seconds after the flight took off. I don't know how I survived. There were bodies and pieces of plane scattered everywhere. For a moment, I thought I was going to die. But I decided not to look back and keep going," Ramesh, who is undergoing treatment in the trauma centre of Ahmedabad Civil Hospital, said on Friday.

"I still can't believe how I survived the crash because I saw people dying in front of my eyes," Ramesh recounted.

拉梅什表示，他以為自己“也會死”但隨后“睜開了眼睛”。拉梅什說，事發后他解開安全帶，試圖逃生，然后他做到了。

拉梅什稱，起飛后“在第一英里內”，他感覺“飛機被卡住了”，好像發生了什么，“然后一盞燈亮了，像是飛機里面的綠燈和白燈亮了?！?strong>飛行員試圖推動飛機前進，但感覺飛機在艱難掙扎后直接撞進了一棟建筑。

拉梅什說，可以看到飛機門對他敞開，“我有機會逃出去”“我不知道我是怎么活下來的”。

"Even I can't believe how I came out of it alive. For a moment, I felt like I was going to die too. But when I opened my eyes and looked around, I realized I was alive. I still can't believe how I survived," Vishwash Kumar recalled the sequence of the events after the impact near Meghani Nagar area.

據報道，拉梅什胸部、眼睛和腳部受傷，但尚能說話行走。拉梅什稱自己已在倫敦生活20年，妻子和孩子也住在倫敦。他赴印短暫探望家人后，原計劃與其45歲的哥哥一起返回英國，后者坐在飛機另一排。

據印度媒體《印度時報》14日報道，此次墜機事故遇難人數已升至274人，其中33人為地面人員。

報道說，機上遇難人數為241人，其他33名遇難者很可能是艾哈邁達巴德醫學院的人員。

Salvage teams scouring the debris of flight AI 171 found the black box of the crashed 787-8 Dreamliner and 29 more bodies on Friday, taking the toll to 274 and expanding the scale of the worst single-aircraft disaster in the history of Indian aviation.

The casualty count increasing beyond the 241 passengers and crew confirmed dead in the crash suggested that the other 33 victims were likely people on the campus of Ahmedabad's BJ Medical College - possibly doctors, their family members, medical students, workers and others in the Meghaninagar neighbourhood.
