為紀念莫奈在藝術創作領域方面的貢獻和成就，表彰國際青少年藝術創增進世界文化和藝術創作之間的交流。法國藝術家協會文化藝術發展委員作，會和巴黎高等藝術學院聯合委員會連同 莫奈美育藝術中心(北京)共同創立了莫奈國際藝術獎。
莫奈國際藝術獎作為世界級藝術平臺--參與人數覆蓋全球多個國家(馬來西亞、新加坡、日本、美國、瑞士、加拿大等國家)數萬所學校及機構、數十萬件藝術作品受邀參選，該獎項是一項涵蓋青少年以及藝術愛好者的國際藝術交流平臺，強調原創和積極性。
