The Renhuai Municipal Market Supervision and Administration Bureau issued an official statement on Friday addressing a viral video alleging that a chicken leg sold by Zhengxin Chicken Steak, a popular Chinese fast-food chain, was infested with maggots.

據媒體此前報道，5月15日，有網友發布視頻稱，顧客購買正新雞排的雞腿后發現了大量的蛆。

對此，涉事門店店員告訴荔枝新聞記者，顧客早上買下午才來退，當時報警了。已對顧客賠償，視頻是圍觀者拍攝，不是購買者本人拍攝。

The controversy began on Thursday when a social media user posted footage showing maggots crawling inside a chicken leg reportedly purchased from a Zhengxin Chicken Steak.

In response, an employee from the involved store claimed the customer had purchased the product in the morning but returned it hours later. "We resolved the issue through compensation and reported the matter to the police," a staff said, adding that the video was filmed by a bystander, not the customer.

有網友表示“太惡心”。

也有網友呼吁加強監管。

據悉，正新雞排的創始人是被譽為“小吃大王”的陳傳武，1995年他創辦了溫州市白云食品有限公司，生產和代理速凍食品。2000年，公司轉型，陳傳武在浙江溫州開設第一家正新休閑小吃店，憑借著獨特的口味和實惠的價格在當地迅速走紅。公司規模擴張后，陳傳武剔除正新小吃90%的小吃品類，僅保留雞排、肉串、烤腸等少數受歡迎的小吃，正新小吃也正式更名“正新雞排”。
