小孩小孩你別饞,過(guò)了臘八就是年。今天是農(nóng)歷十二月初八,正是喝臘八粥的節(jié)日,臘八一到,春節(jié)也就不遠(yuǎn)了。那今天,你喝臘八粥了嗎?
陜西人中午有喝粥的習(xí)慣,特別是我小時(shí)候,一天兩頓飯,中午這頓幾乎天天都是粥,但臘八節(jié)這天不一樣。因?yàn)檫@天的粥再不是平常喝的紅豆粥或者白粥、玉米粥,而是會(huì)疊加花生豆、紅豆、大棗、葡萄干、大米等等,家境殷實(shí)的還會(huì)放些核頭仁、蓮子、百合等,再不濟(jì)的,也至少會(huì)添加花生豆、葡萄干等,因?yàn)檫@是“年”的味道。
小時(shí)候物資還不充實(shí),但每到臘八節(jié)這天,村里家家戶戶都會(huì)煮一鍋香噴噴的臘八粥,家家戶戶都會(huì)香味四溢。
我至今還記得那個(gè)味道,那個(gè)光景。那時(shí)候我們小學(xué)中午還是背著書(shū)包回家吃飯的,捧著一碗香噴噴的臘八粥,嘴里甜甜的、心里美美的。而且,鄉(xiāng)村人吃飯還有左鄰右舍、串門(mén)聊天的習(xí)慣,或者是抱著飯碗,在門(mén)口邊吃邊和鄰居閑談,彼此關(guān)系都很融洽.....
作為孩子,總是歡快的多,除了能吃上香噴噴的臘八粥,其實(shí)更期盼著新年的到來(lái),放假放鞭炮、穿新衣走親戚、收壓歲錢,盡情的“撒歡”,真是無(wú)憂無(wú)慮!
現(xiàn)在物資豐盈,想吃臘八粥,隨時(shí)都可以做,但卻似乎再也吃不出小時(shí)候那種味道了。你說(shuō)為什么呢?

附臘八節(jié)英文解釋
Laba Festival is celebrated on the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month. La in Chinese means the 12th lunar month and ba means eight. The majority Han Chinese have long followed the tradition of eating Laba rice porridge on that day since Song dynasty about 900 years ago.
Legends about the origin of this festivity abound. The most popular one is that Sakyamuni, the first Buddha and founder of Buddhism, attained enlightenment on the eighth day of the twelfth month. Sutras were chanted in the temples and rice porridge with beans, nuts and dried fruit was prepared for the Buddha. With the passing of time the custom extended, especially in rural areas where peasants would pray for a plentiful harvest in this way.
Nowadays, large Buddhism temples still offer it to Buddhists to show their faith to Buddha on laba.
Laba porridge is made with local specialties. In different regions there are different ingredients in addition to the rice. Actuallyeight ingredients (or more) are used, cooked with sugar (or salt).Here is one classic recipe.

1 cup of rice or glutinous rice;
red beans, millet, Chinese sorghum, peas, dried lotus seeds, red beans, dried dates, walnut meat each 1/10 cup(if you can not find these ingredients you can use other nuts, dried fruits and beans instead);
Sugar (crystal sugar is better);
10 cups of water.

Before cooking, clean rice and eight ingredients and dip them separately in cold water for 5 hours;
Put rice and eight ingredients into a deep pot;
Add 10 cups of water and sugar;
Turn on the fire and make sure the flame is high, put the lid on;
When it is boiled, turn down the fire and take off the lid;
Let the porridge simmer until it begins to emit a very delicious smell, add some sugar you’d like;
Turn off the fire when porridge becomes sticky.Laba porridge is not only easy to prepare, but also a nutritious winter food because it contains amino acids, protein and other vitamins people need. Cooked nuts and dried fruit are good for smoothing nerves, nourishing one’s heart and vitality, and strengthening the spleen.
