Denmark is returning to CIIE for a fifth year with two national pavilions
Denmark’s presence at this edition of CIIE will focus on Danish expertise and stronghold in food, agriculture and green solutions.
25/10-2022
One of the first Western Countries to recognize the People’s Republic of China, Denmark shares many joint interests with China and bilateral trade continues to grow year by year. Today, China is the 5th largest export destination for Denmark and the annual China International Import Expo (CIIE) has become an important platform to consolidate the already strong commercial bonds between the two countries.
This November, as a fifth timer to the expo, Denmark will upgrade its presence with two national pavilions, the largest that the country has ever had. Covering a combined area of approximately 650 square meters, the Food Pavilion and the Danish-Sino Green Transition Pavilion will present some of the very best of Denmark within the areas of food, agriculture, and sustainable solutions.
exhibitor space across a wide range of sectors, including life science, design, food, energy and consumer goods.
Danish green solutions on display
Denmark is a global frontrunner when it comes to innovations and technologies that can secure a sustainable future. For half a century, since the Oil Crisis in the 1970’s, Denmark has shown that economic growth and green transition can go hand in hand.As China plans to reach peak CO2 emissions before 2030 and carbon neutrality before 2060, there is a growing demand and interest for green solutions. This year, the Danish-Sino Green Transition Pavilion will offer some key solutions to help China meet its climate objectives.
Organized jointly by the Embassy of the Kingdom of Denmark in Beijing and the Confederation of Danish Industry, the 250-square meter Pavilion will showcase nine Danish companies, working with sustainable development in different ways. Focusing on areas including green energy, water technology and sustainable urbanization, these Danish businesses will be able to demonstrate how energy-efficient and climate-friendly solutions enable a cost-effective green transition.
A number of agreements will also be signed during the CIIE, promoting cooperation between Danish and Chinese companies in fields such as green building, energy optimization, and energy efficiency.
“Since entering into an energy partnership in 2006, Denmark supports Chinese efforts to develop low- carbon pathways. Our research shows that it is possible for China, like Denmark, to have a green transition without compromising economic development. With China’s significant role in paving the way towards net-zero, this year’s CIIE is a great opportunity to inspire and learn from one another,” says Finn Mortensen, CEO of State of Green, a public-private, not-for-profit organization owned by the Danish state and three leading business associations.
High-quality Danish food to satisfy the taste buds of Chinese consumers
For the upcoming CIIE, Denmark will also bring back its national Food Pavilion, featuring Denmark’s diverse, innovative and premium products and services in the food sector. 19 companies will make their appearance at the pavilion, covering a wide variety from cookies and sweets, to dairy, fishery, supplements, and food technology.
“According to our Insight Report, Danish agriculture and food products stand strong in terms of sustainability, food safety and consistency in China, and the 19 Danish companies look forward to present their unique products and solutions for the Chinese visitors at this year's CIIE,” says Lise Walbom, CEO of Danish food and agriculture publicity agency Food Nation.
According to a report by Food Nation, sustainability has become an increasingly important issue for the Chinese market and consumers. Thus green transition within the food and agriculture industry has become a strong focus of Danish companies during the CIIE.
“In the Danish agriculture and food sector, the key challenge is to secure green transition to create a profitable food industry with little or no carbon emission but still with a strong focus on food safety. We are working on ensuring good conditions for research and development within the industry, and our exhibitors at CIIE are looking forward to exploring opportunities for collaboration and knowledge sharing with both Chinese and global stakeholders,” says Leif Nielsen, Director of the Danish Food and Drink Federation.
From 5 to 10 November, the Danish Food Pavilion will be located at 2.2 C4-01 and the Danish-Sino Green Transition Pavilion at 3.1 3C 5-02.
