On June 5, 2025, a 16-member delegation from theBoao Forum for Asia’s International Young Leaders Program (IYLP)visited the Center for China and Globalization (CCG) and the Global Young Leaders Dialogue (GYLD) Secretariat. The visit featured a dialogue on technological innovation, international cooperation, and youth exchange in the context of deglobalization.
Thirteen international young leaders in the delegation came from eight countries—Malaysia, Vietnam, Laos, Nepal, Myanmar, Pakistan, Turkmenistan, and Kyrgyzstan. They are all young diplomats or youth representatives from government, business, and academia.
Dr. Mabel Lu Miao, Secretary-General of CCG and Founder of GYLD, warmly welcomed the delegation and introduced key initiatives of both CCG and GYLD, including the youth roundtable co-hosted with the Boao Forum for Asia at the Forum’s 2025 Annual Conference. She encouraged young leaders to strengthen cross-border exchanges and promote shared values on the global stage.
Chen Yanjun, Director of the Boao Forum for Asia’s International Young Leaders Program (IYLP), reflected on past exchanges and collaborations between the Boao Forum for Asia, CCG, and GYLD. He also introduced IYLP’s key features and future direction.
Mike Liu, Vice President and Senior Fellow of CCG, delivered a keynote speech on how technology is reshaping the world and explored pathways to strengthen innovation cooperation amid the challenges of deglobalization.
During the open discussion, IYLP members actively exchanged views with CCG experts on topics such as technological cooperation amid great power competition. The conversation was dynamic and engaging. CCG Director of External Relations and GYLD Program Manager moderated the meeting.
Initiated by 29 member countries, theBoao Forum for Asiais an international organization headquartered in Boao, Hainan. It is dedicated to promoting economic integration in Asia and building a global dialogue platform centered on development. To foster youth development and cross-cultural exchange, the Forum launched theInternational Young Leaders Program (IYLP), which brings exceptional young leaders from Asia and beyond to visit various cities in China, participate in Forum events, and engage with partner enterprises, government agencies, universities, and think tanks.
On March 26, CCG and the Boao Forum for Asia successfully co-hosted theBoao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 Youth Roundtable. Under the theme"Imagination and Innovation: A Sustainable Future Led by Youth,"thirteen outstanding young representatives from various fields across China, Japan, India, Indonesia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and other regions shared their perspectives and experiences.Zhang Jun, Secretary-General of the Boao Forum for Asia and former Permanent Representative of China to the United Nations, andJenny Shipley, member of the Boao Forum for Asia Council of Advisors and former Prime Minister of New Zealand, delivered keynote speeches as special guests. The event was moderated byMabel Miao Lu, Secretary-General of CCG and founder of GYLD.
