Abstract
Concerns regarding questionable research practices, replication failures, high-profile cases of fraudulent data, and lack of transparency in science have fueled the open science movement. Open science refers to a variety of approaches intended to promote reproducibility, transparency and integrity in research (Banks et al., 2018; Grand et al., 2018), including practices involving authors (e.g., sharing data, study preregistration), journals (e.g., transparent methodological reporting, open science badges), publishers (e.g., open access publishing), and professional associations (e.g., open science training). Open science practices have gained tremendous momentum in I-O psychology and management, yet many scholars lack knowledge about the various ways that they can support open science in their research. In addition, many misconceptions and exist about open science. This talk will focus on the “why, what, and how” of open science and discuss recent research on scientific opinion regarding the open science movement and specific open science practices.
