6月9日，高考結束，湖北省見義勇為先進臧文根結束護考志愿服務活動，回到了自己的炒粉小攤前，開始準備晚上出攤的食材。

熱心公益的臧文根接受極目新聞記者采訪時，總是爽朗地笑著。當談及冰湖中英勇救人一事時，臧文根樸實地說：“只要會游泳的，都會這么做，只是我恰好在現(xiàn)場。”

45歲的臧文根是山東省菏澤市單縣人，2020年5月隨妻子來孝感市孝昌縣定居。2021年1月3日下午3時30分許，孝昌縣花園鎮(zhèn)官塘湖公園東岸，一名小女孩不慎滑入3米多深的湖水中。落水后的小女孩拼命掙扎，一眨眼工夫，就距離水岸數(shù)米遠。周圍群眾連忙大聲呼喊：“有人落水了，救命啊！”

此時，臧文根正帶著兩個年幼的孩子在此游玩，聽到呼救聲，他立即飛奔而去。到了湖邊，他來不及脫衣，一躍跳入湖中。嚴冬水冷刺骨，臧文根迅速游到小女孩身邊，當小女孩的頭露出水面時，趕緊用盡力氣將她托起防止嗆水，并奮力向岸邊游去。由于湖岸是用光滑的石頭砌成的45度斜坡，很難站穩(wěn)，臧文根不得不脫掉鞋子，艱難前行，好不容易快要上岸了，腳下一滑又落入湖里。

見狀，岸邊的群眾將圍巾、跳繩扔向二人，臧文根接住圍巾讓小女孩抓住，小女孩被眾人拉上岸。隨即，臧文根抓住跳繩，也爬上了岸。當大家為小女孩脫險而歡呼雀躍時，臧文根悄悄地離開了現(xiàn)場。

多方尋找后，1月6日下午，被救女孩的媽媽和奶奶找到了臧文根，送去了錦旗和鮮花表示感謝。女孩的媽媽動情地說：“沒有臧大哥，孩子的命就沒有了。”

“救起落水兒童，女兒夸我是英雄，我特別驕傲。我也很慶幸為孩子做了一個好榜樣，如果今后再遇到類似事件，我還是會做出同樣的選擇！”臧文根告訴記者。

臧文根英勇救人的事跡經各級各類媒體報道后，引起社會廣泛關注。臧文根先后被授予“孝感市見義勇為先進個人”“菏澤市市級見義勇為模范”“孝昌縣見義勇為先進個人”等稱號。2021年5月，他榮登“中國好人榜”。2023年4月，他被授予“湖北省見義勇為先進”稱號。

如今，臧文根在孝昌縣花園街老街二中旁擺地攤，經營炒粉、炒面生意，日子過得平淡卻溫馨。盡管生活忙碌，臧文根還是主動加入孝昌志愿者協(xié)會，每月抽時間參加2至3次志愿服務活動。

“我不是什么英雄，我只想通過自己的行動，帶動身邊更多的人做好事做善事，將見義勇為精神發(fā)揚光大，弘揚社會正能量。”臧文根告訴記者。
