附件1:《蘋果與禁酒令》

到了19世紀，蘋果酒的地位已經大不如前。葡萄酒產業經歷了空前絕后的發展，大大擠壓了蘋果酒的生存空間。更加致命的一擊發生在上世紀二十年代的美國，一道禁酒令橫空出世，不僅是蘋果酒失去銷路，連種植蘋果的農戶們都有被極端禁酒主義者襲擊果園的風險。大量專職釀酒的蘋果品種被徹底摧毀，只剩可食用蘋果勉強逃過一劫。

蘋果種植產業只能另辟蹊徑。他們從一首19世紀的威爾士的打油詩中找到了蘋果與健康的關聯（Eat an apple on going to bed and you’ll keep the doctor from earning his bread.），并加以改進，推出了“一天一蘋果，醫生遠離我”的廣告詞（An apple a day keeps the doctor away.），在廣播以及后面出現的電視上來回播放，并花費更大的精力去改良現有的食用蘋果種類，最終讓蘋果成為了健康生活方式的代名詞。
