記者表示，當地人和球迷一起在教堂外佇立，許多人穿著球衣，外面掛著葡萄牙國旗。教堂的另一邊時不時傳來莊嚴的掌聲，記者推測大概是親密親屬聚集的地方。
另外一個記者Matt Graveling表示，教堂周圍一片寂靜，大多數人只是靜靜地站著，默默哀悼。
