梅西在上周的兩場比賽中分別梅開二度，幫助球隊2-1擊敗了新英格蘭革命與納什維爾。
據統計，本次獲獎是梅西本賽季第四次獲得美職聯當輪最佳球員，也是他第十次獲得美職聯當輪最佳球員，是現役獲得美職聯當輪最佳球員次數最多的球員，第二名是約瑟夫-馬丁內斯（9次）。
