A temporary driving permit refers to the short-term motor vehicle driving permit that allows foreigners who come to China for a short stay to drive motor vehicles within Chinese border. This temporary driving permit shall be issued by the traffic police department of the public security organ.

【Under the condition of duration of stay】Those who stay for less than 3 months（including 3 months）are accessible to the application of a temporary driving permit with three months validity. For those staying for more than 3 months, the validity period of a temporary driving permit can be extended up to one year.

臨時(shí)駕駛許可，用于駕駛“自帶的臨時(shí)入境的機(jī)動(dòng)車”或者“租賃的中國(guó)機(jī)動(dòng)車”。具體車型遵循以下規(guī)定：

A temporary driving permit is used to drive “motor vehicles temporarily brought into China” or “rented motor vehicles in China.” The specific motor vehicle types to be driven are under the following rules:

【不超過境外駕證范圍】應(yīng)當(dāng)符合申請(qǐng)人所持境外機(jī)動(dòng)車駕駛證的準(zhǔn)駕車型。

【W(wǎng)ithin the scope of foreign driving license】The vehicle must be in the same category as stated in the applicant's foreign motor vehicle driving license.

【與自帶車型一致】駕駛自帶臨時(shí)入境機(jī)動(dòng)車的，臨時(shí)駕駛許可的準(zhǔn)駕車型還應(yīng)當(dāng)與其自帶機(jī)動(dòng)車車型一致。

【Consistent with the type of the vehicle brought into China】For those who drive motor vehicles temporarily brought into China by themselves, the vehicle type stated in the temporary driving permit must be the same with that of their driving motor vehicles.

【租賃車僅限C1C2】駕駛租賃中國(guó)機(jī)動(dòng)車的，臨時(shí)駕駛許可的準(zhǔn)駕車型為小型汽車（C1）或小型自動(dòng)擋汽車（C2）。

【The vehicle type for rented cars is restricted to C1 and C2】For those who drive rented motor vehicles in China, only small-size vehicles (C1) or small-size vehicles with auto transmission automatic (C2) is allowed for temporary driving permit.

需要準(zhǔn)備的材料：

Required materials：

★入出境身份證件。如：護(hù)照、港澳臺(tái)居民居住證、港澳居民來往內(nèi)地通行證、臺(tái)灣居民來往大陸通行證、中華人民共和國(guó)旅行證等。

★Entry and exit identity documents, such as passport, residence permit for Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan residents, mainland travel permit for Hong Kong and Macao residents, mainland travel permit for Taiwan residents, the People's Republic of China travel permit, and etc.

★境外駕駛證。

★Foreign driving license.

如果你的境外駕駛證是非中文表述的，還需要把駕駛證翻譯成中文。可以通過翻譯機(jī)構(gòu)的電子郵箱申請(qǐng)翻譯；也可以到公安車管辦事窗口，由工作人員協(xié)助申請(qǐng)翻譯。

If your foreign driving license is not in Chinese, you need to translate it into Chinese. You can apply for translation service through translation agencies directly by email; or you can approach to DMV staff for help on applying for translation.

帶好以上材料，到公安車管辦事窗口拍攝照片、提出申請(qǐng)，參加交警部門組織的中國(guó)道路交通法律法規(guī)知識(shí)教育和學(xué)習(xí)后，當(dāng)場(chǎng)發(fā)證。

Please bring the above-mentioned materials to DMV to take photo and submit application form. After participating in the Chinese road traffic laws and regulations knowledge education and learning organized by the traffic police department, you will receive the permit on-site.

【年齡不符】申請(qǐng)人年齡不符合中國(guó)駕駛許可條件的。需租賃中國(guó)機(jī)動(dòng)車臨時(shí)上道路行駛的，臨時(shí)駕駛許可準(zhǔn)駕車型只能申請(qǐng)小型汽車(C1）或小型自動(dòng)擋汽車(C2)，申請(qǐng)小型汽車(C1)，小型自動(dòng)擋汽車（C2)的年齡需在18周歲以上。

【Age Conditions】The applicant fails to meet the required age conditions for Chinese driving permit application. For those who temporarily need to rent Chinese motor vehicles and drive within Chinese border, the temporary driving permit Type 3 is only for small-size vehicles and small-size vehicles with auto transmission. ★臨時(shí)駕駛許可應(yīng)當(dāng)隨身攜帶，并與所持境外駕駛證及其中文翻譯文本同時(shí)使用。

★The temporary driving permit should be carried while driving and be used together with the foreign driving license and its Chinese translation.

★境外駕駛證線上翻譯僅限于申領(lǐng)臨時(shí)駕駛許可業(yè)務(wù)，線上翻譯支付方式為翻譯機(jī)構(gòu)提供的在線支付方式。

★Online translation of foreign driving licenses is only for applying for the temporary driving permit. The payment method for online translation is provided by the translation agencies.

★駕駛租賃的中國(guó)機(jī)動(dòng)車的，請(qǐng)隨車攜帶租賃合同，以備交警檢查。

★When driving a rented motor vehicle in China, please carry the car rental contract with you for traffic police inspection.

★70周歲（含）以上申請(qǐng)人還需先至各駕駛?cè)死碚摽紙?chǎng)進(jìn)行能力測(cè)試（能力測(cè)試有效期為首次測(cè)試之日起的一年內(nèi)，免費(fèi)測(cè)試五次），測(cè)試通過后才可申請(qǐng)（詳細(xì)地址可登錄“交管12123APP”查詢）。
