TheSolstice Gallerywasn’t large—
just two rooms, some white walls,
and a smell of lemon oil and old paper.
Every season, they hosted one rotating exhibit.

abstract portraits, scattered lines of poetry projected onto canvas,
and, in the center of the final wall,
a long wooden table with a thickleather-bound guestbook.

Clara’s breath caught.
She had lingered in front of a pale blue painting titled "Threshold",
not knowing why it felt like memory.
She came back at 4:55.
Stood by Threshold.
Waited.
At 5:00,
someone stepped up beside her.
Quiet.
