On a cold October evening, Eliot passed by after work and picked a copy of The Secret Garden.
Inside, a sticky note peeked out from Chapter 12:

Then, one morning in December, Eliot returned to find The Secret Garden missing.
Instead, on the top shelf of the cabinet sat a new book—Little Women.
Inside, a note taped to the first page:

“New story. Same readers. I’ll be here Saturday, 3PM. The bench by the cabinet. I’ll bring cocoa. You bring the next sentence.”

Saturday came, snow in the air.
Eliot almost walked past.

But there she was.
A woman in a mustard coat,
a thermos in one hand,
and Little Women in the other.

She smiled.
Held up the book.

“I believe you owe me a sentence.”
