6月19日，教育部正式復函廣東省，同意設立大灣區大學。該校定位為新型研究型大學，是由廣東省領導和管理的公辦普通本科學校，首批設置數學與應用數學、物理學、材料科學與工程、計算機科學與技術、工業工程等5個普通本科專業。（@大灣區之聲）
