7月上旬，炎陵桃源洞國家級自然保護區內，羅霄山脈特有的極危物種小溪洞杜鵑悄然盛開。群落中小溪洞杜鵑成熟大樹超過百株，平均樹高逾4米，其中最大個體樹齡推測達200年，最小植株估測也在6年以上。
