Antithesis的意思是對(duì)比，這種手法在文學(xué)中是非常常見(jiàn)的，就其定義和功能來(lái)說(shuō)，可以概括如下：Whether they are words or phrases of the same sentence, an antithesis is used to create a stark contrast using two divergent elements that come together to create one uniform whole. An antithesis plays on the complementary property of opposites to create one vivid picture. The purpose of using an antithesis in literature is to create a balance between opposite qualities and lend a greater insight into the subject. 上面這句話(huà)的具體意思我就不翻譯了，大家可以自己看。指出幾個(gè)關(guān)鍵詞：stark contrast，即句中兩個(gè)相對(duì)應(yīng)的表達(dá)，構(gòu)成了明顯的不同；come together to create one uniform whole，兩個(gè)不同的表達(dá)合起來(lái)，可以表達(dá)一個(gè)統(tǒng)一的整體，有點(diǎn)相辯證邏輯中所說(shuō)的“對(duì)立統(tǒng)一”，這樣做的目的是什么呢？to create a balance between opposite qualities，即在對(duì)立中尋求一種平衡。為了幫助大家理解這個(gè)“對(duì)立統(tǒng)一”和“平衡”，我們來(lái)看下面的例句
