Some people think that improving people's standard of living is always more important than protecting wild birds and animals. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

In the contemporary world, the debate over whether human welfare should always take precedence over the conservation of animals and birds remains a contentious one. I strongly disagree with the notion that improving the standard of living should always be prioritized over wildlife protection. Instead, we must strive for a balanced approach that benefits both humans and the natural world.

Improving living standards is, undoubtedly, a pressing concern for many societies. Economic growth and development are essential for lifting people out of poverty and providing better access to healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. For instance, the construction of new infrastructure, such as highways and factories, can create jobs and boost local economies. These projects, however, often come at a cost to the environment and wildlife habitats. Deforestation, pollution, and habitat destruction are common consequences of rapid industrialization, which can lead to the decline of many wild bird and animal species.

Bees, as pollinators, are crucial for the reproduction of many plant species, including those that are important for agriculture. Without these essential services provided by wildlife, human societies would face significant challenges, such as reduced crop yields and increased reliance on chemical pesticides. Moreover, wildlife conservation can have positive economic impacts. Ecotourism, which focuses on the appreciation of natural habitats and wildlife, has become a significant industry in many parts of the world.

In conclusion, in spite of the tangible benefits in improving the standard of living, it should not overshadow the need to protect wild birds and animals. A sustainable future requires a harmonious coexistence between humans and wildlife. By integrating conservation efforts into development plans and promoting sustainable practices, we can achieve both economic prosperity and ecological balance.
